Your pay and pay slips

OTO runs payroll once a month, for the previous calendar month (Cairo time). Your contract sets your pay; rates are confidential and set by HR.

How hourly pay is counted

If you're paid by the hour, each class counts by its outcome:

  • a completed class: 100% of the hour;
  • a student no-show, or a student cancellation less than 8 hours before the start: 50%;
  • any other outcome: nothing.

Your rate depends on the course: a lower tier (Basic, General, Advanced Conversation), a higher tier (Business, Test Prep, Kids, Young Learners) and a native tier for native courses. Each class is paid at the rate in force on its date. If you're salaried, your salary is set by your contract.

On top of base pay

  • The month's points bonus or deduction applies to your base pay (see "Points and the quality rulebook").
  • Bonus hours that your lateness of 11 minutes or more, or your late cancellations, cost a student are deducted at your own rate.
  • A month's result can be negative; a shortfall carries over to the next run.

When you're paid

  • Payment is made between the 15th and the 20th of each month, for the previous month.
  • You're paid only when the amount due, including anything carried over, is at least EGP 1,000. Below that, it carries over to the next run.
  • Each run is computed by one finance staff member and approved by a second before it's paid.
  • Taxes, fees and social insurance follow your contract.

Your pay slip

Open Pay slips on your dashboard: otocourses.app/en/app/teach/payslips. A pay slip appears once the month's run is approved, in Arabic and English. It shows your contract, rank, hours by rate, classes by outcome, points, bonus and deduction, and the amounts carried in and out. You can print it or save it as a PDF.

Your dashboard also shows your projected pay for the month: an estimate at your current rates, not a promise of payment.

Rank

Your rank comes from your total completed hours, including hours from before the platform: New (0 to 100), Bronze (101 to 500), Silver (501 to 1,000), Gold (1,001 to 2,000) and Diamond (2,001 and above). It is shown on your pay slip and doesn't by itself change your rates.
