Family Account and Kids Terms

Version 1 · published 2026-10-23

1. About these terms

1.1 These terms apply between OTO Group LLC ("OTO", "we") and a parent or legal guardian ("you") who opens a family account on OTOCourses.app to arrange English classes for their children. OTO Group LLC is an Egyptian limited liability company, commercial register no. 130513 (Cairo Investment Commercial Registry), tax registration no. 545-465-400, with its registered office at 14/5 El Lasilky Street, 7th floor, El Basatin district, Cairo, Egypt.

1.2 These terms add to the Student Terms, the Refund Policy, the Privacy Policy and the Class Transcripts and AI Addendum. Those documents apply to your child's packages, bookings and classes as if your child were the learner and you were acting for them, except where these terms say otherwise. If these terms and the Student Terms differ on a family account, these terms apply.

1.3 In these terms:

  • "Family account" means your parent account on OTOCourses.app.
  • "Child" means a learner aged 5 to 15 that you add to your family account. A child has a learner record of their own on the platform but no sign-in of their own. Learners of 16 and over sign up on their own (Student Terms 2.5).
  • "Kids" means the English for Kids courses, for children aged 5 to 12.
  • "Young Learners" means the English for Young Learners courses, for learners aged 13 to 16.

1.4 All times in these terms are Cairo time (Africa/Cairo).

2. Opening a family account

2.1 You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of each child you add. By opening a family account you confirm both.

2.2 To open a family account you give your name, your email address and a password, and you accept these terms, the Student Terms and the Privacy Policy. You must confirm your email address before you can add a child.

2.3 A family account is a parent account only. You cannot study, teach or join a company from it. If you also want to study yourself, use a separate learner account.

2.4 You must keep your password private. You are responsible for everything done through your family account, including for your children.

3. Adding your children

3.1 You add each child yourself, with their name, their year of birth and your relationship to them (mother, father or guardian). You can add up to 8 children.

3.2 Your child has no sign-in, password or email address of their own. You sign in and choose the child you are acting for; you then buy, book, join classes and see reports for that child. Every email about your child is sent to you.

3.3 You may also fill in your child's learner profile, including their date of birth and gender. Both are optional. We use the date of birth to show your child content suitable for their age, to place them in the right age group (Kids or Young Learners) and to mark their birthday (for example with a birthday gift or message). We use the gender to tailor your child's experience in line with local traditions and customs, for example to offer an instructor of the gender you prefer. Your child's instructor never sees the date of birth or gender (Privacy Policy 8.3).

3.4 You confirm that the information you give about your child is accurate, and you keep it up to date.

3.5 Another parent or guardian of the same child can be linked to the child too. Each linked parent or guardian can act for the child.

3.6 You can remove a child who has never had an order, a package or a class. A child with a history stays on your family account, so that their payments, classes and recordings remain linked to them.

4. Your consent for your child

4.1 By adding a child, you give your explicit consent, as your child's guardian, for OTO to process your child's personal data as the Privacy Policy describes, so that OTO can teach your child. This includes recording your child's classes on video and audio (section 6). The Executive Regulations of Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 require this consent for a child under 15. We record when you gave it and to which version of these terms.

4.2 You can withdraw your consent at any time by removing your child (clause 3.6) or deleting your account (section 10). Your child's classes cannot continue without it, because every class is recorded.

4.3 Your child's classes are never transcribed, and no audio-only copy of them is recorded, unless you give a separate consent for that. Until OTO offers that consent on the platform, children's classes are not transcribed at all (Student Terms 13.7).

4.4 Your child does not use AI features: no AI speaking or writing feedback and no automated speech scoring on lesson pages or in practice tools. Your child's lesson pages carry the self-check exercises only. If OTO later offers an AI feature for children, it will ask for your separate consent first.

5. Buying and booking for your child

5.1 You buy packages for your child on the OTOCourses.app website only. Nothing is sold in OTO's Android and iOS apps.

5.2 Before you pay, you prove your WhatsApp number with a code. That number is then locked to your account, and only OTO staff can change it. It is printed on your receipts.

5.3 You pay in the currency shown at checkout: Egyptian pounds (EGP), US dollars (USD), Saudi riyals (SAR), UAE dirhams (AED), Kuwaiti dinars (KWD) or Qatari riyals (QAR), online through Fawaterak or by bank transfer in EGP (Student Terms 5.7 and 16). You are the buyer, and the receipt is in your name.

5.4 A package you buy belongs to the child you bought it for. Its hours are used only for that child's classes. The package rules in the Student Terms apply (validity, freeze, transfer, expiry).

5.5 You book, move and cancel your child's classes under the Student Terms, including the cancellation, lateness and no-show rules. Your child's attendance counts as the learner's attendance.

5.6 Refunds are asked for by you and paid to you, under the Refund Policy.

6. Your child's classes

6.1 Every class is recorded automatically, with audio and video, as for every learner (Student Terms 13.1). OTO keeps each recording for 90 days after the class and then deletes it. The class chat is kept for the same 90 days and is deleted with the recording.

6.2 You can watch your child's recordings from your family account and download them for your family's own personal use. You may not share them publicly. Your child's instructor and authorised OTO staff can watch them but cannot download them.

6.3 Authorised OTO staff may join a class as hidden observers to check its quality (Student Terms 13.5).

6.4 A child under 8 should have a parent or another adult nearby during the class. You are responsible for your child's device, connection and supervision during classes.

6.5 Your child's instructors follow OTO's conduct rules for teaching children. They may not ask a child for personal contact details or arrange lessons outside the platform. Tell OTO at once if anything in a class worries you: hello@otocourses.com or WhatsApp +201040016865.

6.6 Your child must behave respectfully in class (Student Terms 14). If they do not, OTO tells you before taking any step under Student Terms 14.4.

7. What your child can and cannot do on the platform

7.1 Your child has no community profile. Their learner profile is private, or visible to their own instructors if you choose so; you always see it and fill it in (Privacy Policy 13.5).

7.2 Your child cannot see or post comments, does not appear on games' score lists, and is not shown to other members.

7.3 Your child receives no offers or news from OTO. Messages about your child's classes, payments and reports are sent to you.

8. Reports and progress

8.1 Your family dashboard shows, for each child, their level, their next class, the hours left, the classes done and the next step. You receive your child's instructor's class reports.

8.2 OTO may also send you progress reports about your child by email or in the app.

9. Children who studied on otocourses.com

9.1 If your child studied in a Kids or Young Learners course on otocourses.com, OTO may move your child's learner record, level, packages and remaining hours to OTOCourses.app, linked to a family account in your name, as part of moving from the old platform.

9.2 When you first sign in to OTOCourses.app, you are asked to accept these terms and the Privacy Policy, and to give the consent in section 4. Until you do, your child cannot book new classes. Classes your child already had booked go ahead for up to 30 days after the move; if you have not accepted by then, the remaining booked classes are paused until you do.

9.3 Packages moved from otocourses.com keep the expiry the migration gives them. A package that the old platform showed as active but past its expiry, or as "Lifetime", expires 90 days after the move.

9.4 Before your child's record is moved, OTO tells you by email and on every other channel it has for you: a notification in the app, and WhatsApp where you have proven your number. If you do not want your child's record moved, or want it deleted, tell OTO support.

10. Deleting your account or your child's data

10.1 You can delete your family account at any time (Privacy Policy 12.4A and 13.6). We also delete the account of each child for whom you are the only parent or guardian on OTO Courses, on the same terms; the screen names each child before you confirm. A child with another parent or guardian on OTO Courses stays with them.

10.2 Unused hours in the packages of a child who is deleted are lost and not refunded (Student Terms 2.9). Ask for a refund first if you want one.

10.3 You can ask OTO to correct or delete your child's data at any time (Privacy Policy 12).

11. When your child grows up

11.1 When your child turns 16, your child's learner record, level and remaining hours move to a learner account of their own, which your child opens with their own email address. OTO tells you before the move.

11.2 A family account holds children up to 15. A Young Learner who turns 16 continues on their own account (clause 11.1), and learners of 16 and 17 sign up on their own under the Student Terms (Student Terms 2.5 and 2.6).

12. Changes, law and language

12.1 OTO may publish a new version of these terms. You must accept each new version before your next booking or payment for any of your children (Student Terms 21).

12.2 These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt. If you have a complaint, contact OTO support first. If it is not resolved, the competent courts in Cairo decide the dispute. This does not affect your right to complain to Egypt's Consumer Protection Agency or to the Personal Data Protection Centre.

12.3 These terms are published in Arabic and in English. If the two versions differ, the Arabic version prevails.
