Notifications: the bell, email and WhatsApp
OTO Courses tells you about your classes, payments, reports and support in three places: in the app, by email and, soon, on WhatsApp. You choose which ones reach you by email and on WhatsApp.
The bell and your notifications
- The bell at the top of every page in your account shows how many notifications you haven't read.
- Press the bell to see the newest ones. Press one to open the page it is about; it is then marked as read.
- Press Mark all as read to clear the count, or See all notifications to open the full list.
- On the full list, press Mark as read beside one, or Show older to see earlier ones.
- Notifications are kept for 90 days, then deleted.
Choosing email and WhatsApp
Open Account settings from the menu under your initial, then go to Notifications. For each kind of notification you'll see three columns:
- In the app: always on, so nothing is ever missed.
- Email: switch it off if you don't want that kind by email. Your choice is saved straight away.
- WhatsApp: switch it on or off. WhatsApp needs a number you have proven with a WhatsApp code (sign in with WhatsApp, or link your WhatsApp number under Sign-in methods). Until then the WhatsApp switches can't be turned on.
Coming soon means we save your choice but don't send that kind on that channel yet. WhatsApp messages for notifications are coming soon; your choice applies as soon as they start.
What learners can choose
- A class is booked
- A class is cancelled or moved
- Class reminders (24 hours and 1 hour before)
- A payment is received
- Your teacher's class report is ready
- A test result or certificate is ready
- The support team answers you
- Your package is about to expire
- Offers and news
What teachers can choose
- A learner books a class with you
- A class is cancelled or moved
- Class reminders (24 hours and 1 hour before)
- Submitting next month's hours
- HR reviews your profile or ID document
Always sent
These are marked Always sent and can't be switched off: email confirmation, password resets, sign-in codes and receipts; the support team's answer to a question you asked on the website (the email is the answer itself); and, for teachers, the reminder to submit next month's hours.
Offers and news
Offers and news are off unless you agree to them. Switching Offers and news on WhatsApp on is your agreement to receive them; switching it off stops them. You can also reply STOP to any of our WhatsApp messages. Class and support messages continue either way.
Parents
If you manage your child's account, choose your child first: you then see your child's notifications and settings. Emails about your child come to you. A child's account has no offers and news.
