Pronunciation practice
Pronunciation practice helps you say English words clearly: you say a word, then the same word inside a sentence, and see how each sound scored. Open it from My words (Practice your pronunciation): otocourses.app/en/app/practice/pronunciation
How it works
- You get six words chosen for your level (A1 if you haven't taken a level test yet).
- For each one, press Record, say the Word, then press Next and say the Sentence.
- Each recording gets a score out of 100, with accuracy, fluency and completeness, and the words and sounds to work on.
- When you finish the six, press New words for another set.
Your recent attempts
Your last 10 attempts are listed under Your recent attempts, newest first, from this practice and from the daily articles' read-aloud checks. Only you see them.
Good to know
- You need a microphone. Say each one clearly at a natural pace; a recording can be up to 60 seconds.
- Your voice is sent to Microsoft's speech service to be scored. OTO does not keep the recording; it keeps the text you read, your score and the word-by-word result.
- Up to 15 pronunciation checks a day, shared with the daily articles.
- Pronunciation practice is for adult learners. It is not available on a child's account.
