My words: saving and reviewing words

My words is your own list of English words to learn, with a short review that brings each word back just before you would forget it: otocourses.app/en/app/vocab

Add words

  • From a daily article: under Key vocabulary, press Add to My words. The meaning and an example come from the article.
  • Your own word: under Add a word, type a word or short phrase in English. Add what it means and an example if you like. Leave the meaning blank and we fill it in for you, with an example: in Arabic when you use the site in Arabic, as a simple English definition in English.
  • From a text: under Find words in a text, paste some English (class notes, an email, an article) and press Find words. You get up to 12 words worth learning, each with its meaning. Words you already have are left out. Tick the ones you want and press Add. Nothing is saved until you do.

Each word is kept once: adding a word you already have shows the one you saved.

Review

Press Start review when words are due. For each word, choose what it means. A word you know comes back later and later; a word you miss comes back soon.

Download and listen

  • Download (Excel/CSV) or Download JSON gives you every word with its meaning, example and review progress.
  • The speaker beside a word plays its pronunciation.
  • Practice your pronunciation opens pronunciation practice.

Daily limits on the helper: up to 50 meanings filled in and 10 texts read a day. You can always add a word with its meaning yourself.
