The OTO English Benchmark

The OTO English Benchmark is OTO's English test for teams and organisations.

  • Six sections: grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening, writing and speaking, in about 85 minutes.
  • Adaptive: questions adjust to each person's level as they go, under the same sections and time limits for everyone.
  • Scored by AI against CEFR descriptors. Each person gets a level from A1 to C2, with an OTO sub-level.
  • A report for HR on every person, with the number of courses they need to reach their role's target level.
  • Certificates with a QR code that anyone can check on a public verification page.
  • Integrity checks: full screen and focus checks while the test runs, plus optional camera checks. The software never fails anyone on its own; your team decides.

Results

Grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening are marked as they're answered; writing and speaking shortly after the person finishes. Results reach your dashboard as each person completes.
